A smoother handoff at tax time

Good books all year.
Ready for your tax preparer.

Accurate tax returns start with reliable financial records. Your annual tax preparer should have a clear picture of your business, not a pile of unanswered questions.

01 / ORGANIZED RECORDS

Know what’s in the numbers

Income and expenses are categorized, bank and credit card accounts are reconciled, and unclear transactions are followed up on throughout the year.

02 / A CLEAR HANDOFF

Give your preparer a solid starting point

Get organized financial statements and bookkeeping records to share for your annual tax returns, with bookkeeping questions addressed before the handoff where possible.

03 / BETTER INFORMATION

Help your tax professional see the details

Well-organized expense records help your preparer evaluate potential deductions and other tax benefits. Your tax professional determines the tax treatment and eligibility.

Keep the tax preparer you trust. My role is to get the books ready; annual tax return preparation and filing are separate services.

Is this right for your business?

For owners who are busy
running the business.

A good starting fit is an owner-operated service business looking for ongoing bookkeeping help, rather than an in-house accounting hire.

You might be a good fit if…

  • You’re a contractor, home service provider, consultant, freelancer, or other small service business.
  • Your bookkeeping takes up evenings or keeps getting pushed aside.
  • You want a regular view of profit, expenses, and account balances.
  • You want to hand your tax preparer organized books instead of scrambling at filing time.

You don’t have to arrive organized.

Already using QuickBooks? We can start with a review. Behind on your books or starting from scratch? Cleanup or setup can come first.

You’ll still provide statements, supporting documents, and context for unclear transactions. I handle the agreed bookkeeping work and follow up on questions.

Meet your bookkeeper

Hi, I’m Cooper.

I’m Cooper Siebrecht, a CPA based in the Des Moines area. My background includes tax work at EY and financial reporting in the insurance industry.

I bring that accounting foundation to helping small business owners keep organized records and understand their numbers. When something needs clarification, you’ll work directly with me.

My approach is straightforward: a clear scope, a consistent process, and financial information you can put to work.

Outside of accounting, wrestling has been a big part of my life. As a collegiate wrestler, I learned the importance of discipline, integrity, and accountability—values I carry into my professional career and the way I serve my clients. Today, I help coach youth wrestling and enjoy passing those lessons on to the next generation.

In my free time, I enjoy watching sports, lifting weights, golfing, and spending time with my wife, friends, and family.

A client’s experience

More time for the business.

“Highly recommend! Has been handling the bookwork for our company for a few months and the transition was smooth. Makes good recommendations and worked to understand our wants and needs. We now have more time to focus on other aspects of the business knowing that the finances are being taken care of. Monthly reports delivered on time and are helpful in evaluating and making sure we are on track. Our information is secure and we are confident in the decision to make this change to our system. Great to work with.”

Monthly bookkeeping

$200/month

Starting price for straightforward, lower-volume books.

Find out what my business would cost ↗

Your monthly scope can include

  • Categorizing income and expenses
  • Reconciling bank and credit card accounts
  • Preparing a profit & loss statement and balance sheet
  • Following up on questions and explaining your reports
  • Organizing bookkeeping records for your annual tax preparer

Final pricing depends on transaction volume, number of accounts, and complexity. Catch-up, cleanup, and initial setup are quoted separately. Any QuickBooks subscription cost will be clarified in your quote.

The starting price is not a flat rate for every business. Tell me what you need, and I’ll outline the proposed work and price.

A few common questions

Before we get started.

My books are behind. Can we start there?

Yes. We’ll first review how far behind they are and what information is available, then agree on a catch-up plan and quote.

What will I receive each month?

Depending on the agreed scope, you’ll receive reconciled accounts and financial statements, including a profit & loss statement showing income, expenses, and profit, and a balance sheet showing assets, liabilities, and equity. We’ll also address questions about the records and reports.

Can I keep my current tax preparer?

Yes. I help keep your books organized and reconciled so the tax preparer you already trust has reliable records for your annual returns. Clear income and expense records help them prepare accurate returns and evaluate potential deductions and other tax benefits. Tax treatment, eligibility, and filing remain with your tax professional.

Do I need to be in Des Moines?

No. I’m based in the Des Moines area and can work remotely with businesses elsewhere.

Is tax preparation included?

Annual tax return preparation and filing are separate from these bookkeeping services. I focus on keeping the books organized, reconciled, and ready for your tax preparer, and addressing questions about the bookkeeping records.

How much does monthly bookkeeping cost?

Monthly bookkeeping starts at $200 for straightforward, lower-volume books. Your quote depends on transaction volume, accounts, and complexity. Cleanup, catch-up, and setup are quoted separately, with scope and pricing agreed before work begins.
